Grand View Christian's 6-foot-2 guard Stephen Glenn has yet to generate any recruiting buzz as heads into his junior season with the Thunder.
He’s hoping that playing with his grassroots program's elite squad next summer, and maybe making a run to the state tournament with his high school team will help with exposure.
“I think it (lack of recruitment) was because I wasn’t on the (Kingdom Hoops) elite team, but this year hopefully I can make the elite team and get some more exposure, because I come from a little 1A school and we didn’t make it to state, so not a lot of coaches look there,” said Glenn.
The Kingdom Hoops product mentioned that improving his shooting was a point of emphasis for his last offseason.
“I would say my defense and 3-point shooting is what I did really well, and my mid-range is what I really improved on,” said Glenn, who defined his style of play to PHI.
“I’d say my shooting ability and relentlessness, never really giving up on a play, those are my strengths. I need to become more athletic, I’m not quite where I need to be right now. I’m always in the gym doing jumping drills, quickness drills, just trying to get my body right.”
Last season was his first playing with Defenders, he was tremendous. This season as a junior, he says it will be his team.
“Last year was different because I was new to the team, I had a pretty big role but it wasn’t my team, but this year it’s pretty much just my team,” said Glenn. “I’d like to become one of the top-10 scorers in Iowa this year, and then I want to get to state and win it.”
