Cameron Lard Commits
Yet another top prospect comes off the board in the state of Louisiana as Cameron Lard committed to the Cyclones and coach Steve Prohm yesterday. The 2016 big man is a high level defensive big that had once been considered someone who would sign early but commits just after the signing period closes.
He had heard from South Carolina and Alabama in the SEC as well as Texas and Kansas St from the Big 12 but decided to head to Iowa St. This gives the Cyclones 5 commitments for the 2016 class that will have to follow up on a very successful run.
Lard recently moved to New Orleans from Natchitoches and is enrolled at Landry-Walker where he’ll look to get his 2nd state title in 5A. Cam told us that he, “just felt that was the best place for [him].” After offense has been the key for the Cyclones under now Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, Prohm has brought a defensive focus that can already be seen on the court.
That focus is a perfect fit for Lard who can defend either the four or the five as strong and athletic big man. He’ll protect the rim and be able to defend the ever present pick and roll offenses emerging. With his commitment, that means only 2 of Louisiana’s Top 10 are left.
