The 6-foot-5 wing had a very nice spring and summer with the Mavericks. And though he may not put up huge numbers with maybe the state's best backcourt playing alongside him (Jared Printy, Jordan Bohannon), he certainly will be a pivotal piece to Linn-Mar squad that should compete for a 4A state title.
2016 Jake Kluender, Spencer
He was one of the breakout players of the offseason after starring with the Cornsharks, and he's starting to see Division II and Division I interest because of it. He was very good last season as a junior, but should be great during his senior campaign.
2017 Kyle Nevitt, Perry
Nevitt's star was beginning to shine when he scored 27 points in a substate final loss to Dallas Center-Grimes last season. He carried that momentum into the offseason with the Cornsharks, and will be integral – alongside Shammond Ivory – to Perry's success.
2017 Drew Maschoff, Ankeny
The 6-foot-2 point guard went from backup with the varsity as a sophomore to all-CIML candidate in the matter of months. He almost single-handedly slayed a supremely talented Iowa City West squad this summer at the Urbandale Team Camp in what was his defining monment of the offseason.
2017 Douglas Wilson, Hoover
The 6-foot-5 Hoover power forward just keeps getting better and better, and is now without question one of 2017's best prospects. He was a youngster last season starting with the Huskies as a sophomore, he's now a veteran, and could vie for player of the year honors in the CIML-Metro.
2016 Jacory Spates, Waterloo West
With the departure of current Northern Iowa Panther Lincoln Conrey, the Wahawks will now be lead by up-and-coming 2018 Carondis Harris-Anderson, and his backcourt mate Jacory Spates. Spates is a 5-foot-10 point guard with great length, nice handles, and scoring ability.
