Alden-Conger. .500 team last year but struggled in the conference
B O L D. ACGC's replacement.
Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart. Won one game last year, lost by 27 a night
Cleveland. Go Browns!
J-W-P. A 4 seed actually last year even though 13-15
Madelia. A team to really watch for as they bring back everything.
Mankato Loyola. Lost most of their rotation.
Mayer Lutheran. The team will be better, more athletic this year.
Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Goanar Mar went there in 8th grade.
New Century Academy. They didn't play last year.
New Ulm Cathedral. Still smarting from playoff loss, bring a lot back.
Nicollet. Worst team in 2A south last year.
Sleepy Eye. Wake up! Time to improve on those four wins.
Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's. 9-16 last year so yeah, kind of Sleepy.
Springfield. Young talent is excellent, will be good despite graduation loss
St. Clair. This could be their year, so much back from 19 win team.
United South Central. Trojans, Rebels, whatever, they lost a lot of guys
Cedar Mt/Comfrey. Fell below .500 for the first time in a long time.
Lester Prairie/HT. Good school to work at, good coach (Ben Machemehl)
Mountain Lake. Fell to .500 last season.
T/ML/GHEC. Pat, they need some more letters!
Thoughts
- ACGC moving out gives the section a chance to have a new winner. The ACGC section had three teams with winning records so New Ulm Cathedral and Springfield have a grand chance.
- Cathedral is exactly what you think good football players taking the pads off and beating tough with people. But they win, and bring a lot back.
- Springfield has the most talent they are just quite young. Really excited to see what Tanner Vogel does this season.
- Talent swings and after good stretches LPHT, SESM, CMC, and Mt Lake Area set backs last year after being good for so long but remember, those schools lost some fantastic players from 13-14.
- St. Clair feels like a team that could be the real deal. Talented players, most are back from a 19 win team. Maybe this is their time.
- Remember when Medelia was winning a game here, two the next season, etc? Well they won 15 last year and bring everything back. Watch out.
- USC had a great run but lost all but one main guy. Trevor Stencel is very good though.
- Mayer Lutheran moves into the section and word is they have some very athletic players over there. Football has turned around, how about buckets?
- We at LPHT challenge other schools to hoop. Ben Machemehl, Jeremy Schmidt, Nat Boyer, and myself, let's go 4 on 4 with another school!
