Charlie Moore Talks Memphis & More!
The state’s top 2016 prospect Morgan Park point guard Charlie Moore took his first official visit over the weekend to Memphis. We spoke with him about the trip and what is next in the recruiting process for him. Moore talked about his official visit to Memphis and what he did while on campus.
“I watched their practice then I also visited the Fed Ex Forum where they play all their games and I talked with the coaches.”
The Morgan Park standout discussed what impressed him most.
“The coaching staff was great with Coach Pastner’s energy and Damon Stoudamire’s experience and he did things that I want to accomplish as goals.”
What is next with the recruiting process?
“I’m going to maybe take the rest of my visits this month.”
He is in the process of setting up his remaining official visits. There are four other schools that are in the mix for those visits and ultimately his commitment in addition to Memphis.
“VCU, California, Iowa State, and Creighton.”
He hasn’t 100% locked in dates yet, but we are hearing two of those visit could be Iowa State October 16th for Hilton Madness and then VCU the following weekend October 24th.
Moore tells us he plans on signing in November during the early signing period.
The senior has been very good over the last three years on both the high school level and the circuit, but he took it to another level during the spring and summer to earn himself the top spot in the 2016 class. The biggest area of growth was his ability to take better shots and improving his assist to turnover ratio. Moore put up monster numbers in the Nike EYBL including several spectacular shooting displays from deep.
The signature performance for Moore was what we saw him do at Nike Global Challenge. With two other stellar point guards on his team along with NBA scouts and college coaches coast to coast in the stands Moore dominated. He controlled the game making sound decisions with the ball, put pressure on his opponent defensively, and got to the rim at will showing he can finish against pro caliber big men.
Moore will be the man for 3A state title contender Morgan Park and one of the favorites for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois.
