We are looking at the player that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
Tri City Thunder made quite an impression on the circuit at both the 17U and 15U levels. They competed and won against some of the top teams in the Midwest. Their 17U team was led by a quartet of rising seniors including three quality guards. It was their big man that made everything go. PrepHoopsIllinois’ choice for Tri City Thunder program MVP is Geneva 6’9” center Loudon Vollbrecht. The first time you see Vollbrecht play you might say “he should play football.” Yes in fact he is a high major football prospect, but that will not be what he will be playing in college. The big man consistently produced with his ability to get deep post position and score on the block. Vollbrecht has a soft touch around the hoop and is efficient with the shots he takes.
His signature week was his play at the KC Hardwood Classic to close out July. Vollbrecht went head to head against multiple D1 post players and put up double doubles and even a triple double in one contest. In one game it seemed like every possession down the floor he scored. His play opened up the eyes of a lot of mid-major and low-major programs.
