We are looking at the player that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
The Quad City Elite 17U team was a special group to follow over the past three years. They are a group of kids that stayed together and won as a unit. The best part about them is they won as a team and were so unselfish so it is kind of hard to pick an MVP. While the best prospect on the team remains Nebraska commit Isaiah Roby our pick for QCE’s program MVP is Kewanee 2016 shooting guard Donovan Oliver. The power wing excelled for his team throughout the spring and summer. What Oliver is best at is getting in the lane where he finishes through contact at the rim. He is a plus rebounder for his position and defends well. Overall he just plays with a consistent motor and does whatever is asked of him to win.
His play at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational was where I thought he shined the most. In an event that Quad City Elite would ultimately take home the 17U crown Oliver set the tone early with his intensity and production. He got on the glass converting second chance points and slashed well both with and without the ball for scores at the cup.
