Here is our look at the potential D1 shooting guards in the class of 2017.

High-Major Targets

Jordan Goodwin (Belleville Althoff)

Goodwin is a powerful and bruising two guard that attacks the defense off the bounce with his superior strength and improved handles.  He seeks out contact.  Dominant offensive rebounder and plus wing passer.

Da’Monte Williams (Peoria Manual)

Williams is a big and athletic combo guard that can really score at all three levels.  Smooth with the ball in his hands and took over games throughout the summer when the game was on the line.

Mid-Major Targets

Jamal Nixon (Fenwick)

Nixon is just on the verge of the high-major category with his versatile game.  The physical 6’4” wing has great size and is a plus rebounder and passer for the position.  Good defender.  Will be interesting to see if offensive game takes next step as junior.

Elijah Joiner (Curie)

Strong and athletic guard that can get to the basket.  Shows potential on jump shot.  Moves ball and is active defender.

AJ Youngman (Peoria Manual)

You can’t ever have enough shooters and that is exactly what this kid does great.  He has the size at 6’5” along with a plus plus shot from deep in the catch and shoot.  Will need to improve athleticism going forward.

Low-Major Targets

Lucas Williamson (Whitney Young)

Williamson is a versatile and skilled wing that does a little bit of everything.  Good mid-range shooter, passes it, and can defend multiple positions.

Demarius Jacobs (Uplift)

Wiry and athletic guard that is great in transition playing above the rim.  Potential on shot.  Big summer.

Tyler Chisom (Proviso East)

Chisom is a tough and angular wing that excels on the defensive end and rebounding.  Best offensively slashing and getting out in transition.

Craig Beaudion (Foreman)

Thin wing that flat out put up buckets as a sophomore.  Needs to add strength and diversify game to max out ability.

Noah Frederking (Okawville)

Strong wing that is a plus plus shooter from deep both pulling up and off the catch.  Frederking shows improved athleticism and runner in the lane.

On the Radar

Iman Reynolds (Hinsdale South)

Explosive wiry lefty handed scorer.  Needs to be more consistent with production.

Dwayne Rose (Crete Monee)

High upside combo that flashes D1 ability.

Brennen Woods (Hampshire)

Rangy wing that had strong spring scoring from perimeter.

Zach Rzewnicki (Ridgeview)

Athletic wing that excelled during high school season.  Got lost in shuffle on grassroots circuit.

Terry Smith Jr (Curie)

Physically built wing that gets to the basket at will.

Marcus Garrett (Hillcrest)

Combo guard that is bouncy and was productive as sophomore with two veterans on team.

Mitch Lewis (Naperville North)

Slashing wing that was productive on circuit and improved outside shot.

Denis Alibegovic (Downers Grove South)

Plus shooter that will need to show more diverse game going forward.

Jacob Keller (Fenwick)

Tough combo guard that has nose for ball and making plays.
