D2 Targets
Not a ton of options at the D2 level, but some intriguing ones with upside. Division two programs should also take note and track the last few in our D1 article as they are borderline D1/D2 prospects.
SF Zach Hollywood (Bradley Bourbonnais)
Hollywood is a 6’9” combo forward with great size and is a plus shooter from the perimeter. Also a bouncy athlete that can get to the basket on occasion.
SF Isaac Gassman (Ottawa)
Gassman is a versatile wing that contributes across the board. The rangy 6’4” lefty is a good spot up shooter that can pass it and is a solid defender.
SG Mike Ballard (Fenwick)
Ballard is among the best perimeter shooters in this class. Best when playing with a quality point guard that can get him the ball in his spots.
SF Chris Williams (St. Rita)
Williams is a long and athletic 6’4” wing that has considerable upside. Worth monitoring as he will get a lot more playing time at St. Rita this season.
SF Kevin Krieger (Plainfield North)
Krieger opened eyes with his play in July and his ability to score with size at 6’4”. The Plainfield North standout shoots it from deep and is an underrated athlete.
D3/NAIA Targets
Here are a few of the D3/NAIA wing options that we have been impressed with.
SG Chamar Hawkins (Marist)
Hawkins has a physical upper body which allows him to be a powerful slasher toward the hoop. He gets in the lane where he can score at the rim or get to the foul line. Solid defender.
SG Tyler Houston (Knoxville)
Houston is a thick bodied shooter that is best in the catch and shoot. The guard moves fairly well without the ball and has a quick release.
SG Keymonta Johnson (Decatur MacArthur)
Johnson impresses with his ability to slash to the basket. The lefty had a strong high school season when we saw him as a junior.
SG Mike Schroeder (St. Charles North)
Schroeder exploded in July with his perimeter shooting. Among the state’s best pure shooters he moves great without the ball and plays with a ton of heart.
SG Dylan Vaca (Kaneland)
Vaca shows a nice combination of athleticism and perimeter shooting. Puts up buckets for high school team.
SG Jamal Burton (Morgan Park)
Elite perimeter defender that can shut down opponents on the perimeter. Raw offensively, but excels in transition.
SF Will Fleming (St. Ignatius)
Thin wing with size and the ability to shoot the ball. Needs to improve game off bounce and get stronger, but like upside.
SG Logan Kohrmann (Breese Central)
One of the best perimeter shooters in southern Illinois. Lit up nets as a junior and should do so again this year.
SF Devin Blake (Downers Grove North)
Tough and rugged wing that brings a consistent motor on both ends of the floor. Great role guy that you need on a winning team.
SG Lucas Simon (Niles Notre Dame)
Rangy 6’4” wing with size that is a standout on the defensive end with his length. Solid all-around game that should excel at small school level.
