When a team needs three timeouts in the first eight minutes and are down 21-2 it's going to be a long day. It ended being one of the longest days of the year for FW (I refuse to add Elite to their name) who lost 75-32.
Nate Albers was the first weapon to go off hitting two treys on the wing against a zone that was seventh grade sketchy at best. Seeing cracks in that zone, the Mounds View tough guy first flashed middle and then was playing in the high post where he continually found space to catch, turn, and make short jumpers.
Albers is know for his tough mind set willing to dive on the floor and do whatever it takes to win, plus he's one of the better late game shooters out there. In this game it was intelligence that stepped up as well as his shooting touch facing up.
Big game from a talent that we can see being loved by the MIAC.
Rudrud is a Vegas Draw
After an outstanding weekend in Sioux Falls the NSIC is all over Brady Rudrud of Eden Prairie and the Minnesota Heat. The 6-foot-3 combo guard looked at a press in Las Vegas and dribbled around it like they were simple orange cones in a drill. When the opponents stepped up their ball pressure Rudrud showed the north side of Vegas has deep ball handling abilities controlling like few at his size can.
Who was watching? Two coaches from Concordia St-Paul including head coach Joey James as well as coaches from Minot State and St. Cloud State. The NSIC has taken over Vegas so Rudrud will have more visitors today. He easily had around 20 points and seven assists in his first game so more impressive play is on the way.
Notes
- Ryan Jacobus had a couple passes on the move that really caught the eye. He had two transition leads that would go on highlight films plus his trademark deep trey was there.
- James Streeter was finishing regularly inside sneaking behind the zone and completing plays. The Totino-Grace center had one of his more efficient finishing nights that we have seen.
- Quinton Siebenahler's quick off his feet bounce and strength allowed him to complete two And1s as well as a third where the free throw missed. Quicker off his feet than most, stronger than most. That body will be college ready for wherever he goes.
- Samm Jones wowed the crowd with a couple athletic attacks trying to dunk over the Stratosphere tower and coming up just short. He was mostly in the giving mood on Wednesday using his quickness, best on the court in this game, to weave around the defenses.
- This game was over fast. It was 21-2 and only go worse.
