Nelson played “up” on the Atlanta Xpress 16u team this summer and was able to compete and excel against players mostly from the 2028 class. The sophomore is a skilled lead guard who is very good with the ball in his hands. He is a creative finisher, a good passer and a capable open perimeter maker. The #6 ranked prospect in the class, Nelson has good quickness and also changes speeds well when the ball is in his hands.

Nelson is a three-level scorer who consistently puts pressure on the defense. He connects from deep, uses floaters effectively, and finishes coast-to-coast in transition. Nelson gets to his pull-up jumper and plays with an attacking mindset, drawing fouls and living at the free-throw line. His balanced scoring approach has helped diversify Hebron Christian’s offense, giving the Lions another dynamic weapon. In a short amount of time since his move from Middle Georgia to Metro, Nelson has already established himself as one of the more impactful freshmen in the state.

Nelson is a high scoring combo guard for the Lions. He is a solid shot maker and a creative finisher in the paint who can finish with floaters over defenders with size and length. The freshman has a high basketball IQ and is a young prospect to watch in the state’s 2029 class.
