About Xavier

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a true point guard whose goal is to make others around me, while being a leader on and off the floor. I am a selfless player, meaning I love playing for my teammates to have success, but I am also able to create my own shot when the opportunity presents itself. I am coachable, observant, and I lead by example, no matter the situation. I am also a student athlete and value my academics.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Basketball has taught me discipline, leadership, and perseverance. I take pride in competing with intensity, pushing myself and my teammates to improve every day. On the court, I contribute through defense, hustle, and playmaking; off the court, I stay committed to my academics and personal growth. I’m eager to bring my work ethic, competitiveness, and team-first mentality to the college level.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in some academic clubs, including honor societies in math, science, English, Spanish, and social studies. I was also nominated to represent our school's athletic board and elected as president. I am also nominated as a member for an organization called Link Crew. Outside of academics, I participate in community volunteering with Feed My Starving Children.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have taken multiple leadership courses, which have helped me become a leader not only on the court but also off the court. I have learned how strong the mental aspect is when it comes to sports and even solving everyday obstacles. Playing multiple team sports, such as soccer and basketball, has taught me how to work with others, regardless of our different skill sets.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge was moving into a new area and creating a brand-new strategy. It was a great opportunity, but I was young and still anxious about what the future held. I am fortunate that I met great people around me and a community that supported me throughout my journey. Building those relationships in a tight-knit community helped me thrive and become who I am today.

What type of college are you looking for?

In college, I am focused on finding the right fit. I value my academics, so finding a university or college that is just as strong in academics as basketball is a key value. I also look for a place where the people around me are like-minded individuals who have a tremendous work ethic, but where I can build relationships that could last beyond just college.
