Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
The torch-bearer among his class at Reading since he entered high school, Rosario returns for his senior year ready to lead a storied Red Knight program looking to work back toward state-wide prominence. A dynamic threat off the dribble, he attacks with a blend of strength, skill, and IQ while smoothly navigating space and bodies within the lane. Rosario is aggressive in the floor game while thriving defensively as a roamer who can force turnovers at a moment’s notice. With the inherent toughness and grit that returning legend Rick Perez is known to valueas a coach, Rosario should flourish this season as the engine of the Red Knight attack and it would be a surprise if the region’s assortment of D2 programs don’t begin to take notice before long.

Rosario has been a key piece of the Reading rotation for years, all while undergoing a following developmental arc as a prospect in the process. The physical two-way guard has always been effective, but was more of a downhill thumper who could have blinders on at times in his younger years. Rosario has grown leaps and bounds as a lead guard, refining his decisionmaking in a major way while still bringing the same downhill punch and Reading toughness that put him on the map initially. With the ability to knock down open shots at a reasonable clip and consistently impact the game defensively, Rosario is squarely on the radar of scholarship-level programs with the chance to catch some D1 looks if he can make some noise this month.

This season Rosario has taken on the role of top scoring option at Reading and posted a tremendous junior season. He is averaging 13 ppg. and has recorded three games of 20 or more points. Rosario’s latest scoring outburst came Thursday night as he scored a career high 28 points (2 threes) and handed out 9 dimes during Reading’s win against Muhlenberg. Rosario is an athletic and versatile prospect with elite end-to-end speed. Combine those assets with his tight handles and college coaches are looking at a prospect who thrives in the open floor. In the half-court, Rosario can score at every level or work as a distributing lead guard.

Had a great vision of the floor throughout the game making tough reads. He took numerous charges throughout the game. He is very relentless with his play. Rosario got to the foul line frequently. Rosario has a solid frame which allows him to absorb contact. One thing that holds Rosario back is his ability to shoot from three, something I think he can take a jump with practice and reps.

The most under the radar of all the advantage creators in his class, Rosario is a true point guard. Excellent at live-dribble passes, he throws his teammates open when they’re cutting and hits teammates in their shooting pockets with surgical precision. Rosario could already get downhill to score, but now he’s subtly mixing in pull-up jumpers.

In 2023-24 Rosario averaged 9 points per night as the 3rd option for Reading. He posted as season high 17 points against Erie McDowell. In the state tourney he netted 13 points versus eventual 6A champion Central York. This season Rosario will be the No. 1 option at Reading, and it appears this extraordinarily athletic and ultra-quick prospect is ready for that promotion. Rosario can work as a point guard, shooting guard or wing. At all those positions Rosario is a legitimate three-point threat. Once he has knocked home a few triples, Rosario will execute a ball fake, then put the ball on the deck so he can get to the rim for lay-in. Rosario can also generate points out of high screen action that gets him downhill and into the lane. His speed and creative finishing moves enable Rosario to excel in transition. Rosario is tenacious on-ball defender with a knack for picking pockets.

Reading’s next superstar is primed for his breakout stretch of play. Rosario is a lightening quick and versatile guard with the skills to run at both backcourt spots. His speed and finishing skills make Rosario an elite transition player who can score through contact at the cup. In the half-court, Rosario can produce points at every level, direct designed sets and execute drive-n-kicks. When Rosario slides over to shooting guard, he can score out of isolation play, pop threes and knife back door for lay-ins. Defensively Rosario is a menacing on-ball presence with active hands.
