Expert Analysis

Adams has had a bit if an itinerant path, starting at Phelps School before heading to Nativity BVM and then losing time last season to eligibility issues surrounding his transfer to Reading. Ready to make up for lost time as a senior with the Red Knights, Adams should be as imposing a frontcourt force as you’ll find in Berks County. He’s a rugged two-way presence in the paint, relishing physicality while throwing his weight around as an interior finisher and rim defender. While not the most skilled, Adams should have a chance to draw scholarship-level attention with a strong season given his size and low-maintenance approach.

With Rick Perez returning to Reading as head coach, the Red Knights will be one of the most intriguing teams to watch in all the state. Adams is a towering presence inside the paint on both sides of the ball. He is excellent from the dunker spot, often finishing easy dump-off passes or utilizing a quick post move to score. Currently, his best attribute is as a shot-blocker, where he has multiple blocks every night. Blake is going to thrive under new leadership and should have a great senior year.

After sitting out the 2024-25 season because of PIAA eligibility ruling, Adams spent the spring circuit proving again that he can still dominate the paint at both ends of the court. Adams is a traditional center / power forward who uses his length, solid frame, and wingspan to produce points around the rim. He can score via drop steps that lead to flip hooks as well as lay-ins through contact. Adams can also work the baseline and dunker spot for finishes off one or two dribbles. His pick-n-roll skills are a developing weapon too. At the other end of the court, Adams is a major rebounding and shot blocking presence.

With eligibility rules forcing him to sit out the year after a preseason transfer, Adams will rely on a big AAU season to reignite his buzz on the recruiting trail as he suits up with Sideline Cancer on the MHC. A bruising frontcourt presence with a healthy mean streak his game, he shines doing the dirty work as an effective rebounder and interior finisher while setting a hard-nosed tone up front. Adams looks to have stretched out a bit while shedding some baby fat from his frame, looking notably springier around the rim as a result. He won’t be a fit for everybody at the next level given his relative lack of offensive skill, but Adams’ sheer size and willingness to thrive within his role should draw scholarship-level interest over the course of the spring and summer.

Adams is a traditional power forward who would immediately address the Sixers rebounding and interior scoring issues. With his length, positioning skills, endless motor and nose for the ball, Adams would be a plus rebounder for the 76ers at both ends of the court. His precise outlet passes would quickly get Tyrese Maxey or Jared McCain out on the fast break for easy buckets. Adams possesses soft hands and polished footwork that includes an effective drop step move. Those assets enable Adams to produce point in close via post ups and out of pick-n-roll action. Plus, Adams owns a high IQ and impressive passing skills. Those items should cut down on the 76ers turnovers.
