Kennedy continues to fit in perfectly with his new squad. Which makes sense, as he’s a guard version of the talented wings they have on the squad. Going to hit open shots, hook it up on defense, handle it and make the right passes. Basically he’s going to cover all the bases, which is what he did again.
Every three pointer he hits feels timely. Which was the case in a second quarter run and clutch fourth quarter shooting from deep. He helped handle the waves of Hornets ball pressure and gave it right back by forcing some steals of his own. The only blemish on the night was in the final minute, he went 2-4 from the line. Clean that up and Weatherford will continue to back up their top ranking in 4A.

The newest Eagle showed why he’s a game changer for one of the top teams in Oklahoma. He caught fire from three to bust the game open in the second quarter and fully put it away in the third. Sometimes it was simply spotting up, but he also hit a nasty stepback three following a pump fake. Weatherford really looked to get him going, and he responded with those triples or attacking the rim when defenders overplayed him. Great all around guard, who has found his niche for an elite team.

One of the most complete guards from an offensive standpoint in Oklahoma, Kennedy seemingly never makes a mistake on the court. Sneaky good off the bounce with his use of angles to find lanes to the rim and the ability to get off his shots at the rim over taller defenders. Along with slipping between gaps of the defense, he’s also a subtle and effective off the ball cutter in Piedmont’s spread out offense.
Perhaps his most marketable trait is his pinpoint long range shooting that he pairs with great shot selection. Shooting becoming his calling card could help him standout to college coaches, as they slowly fall in love with the rest of his well rounded game.

Kennedy continued his rock solid junior campaign with a strong night in Moore. The lead guard always looks in control and rarely forces anything that could lead to a mistake. He plays at his own pace, relying on the defense over committing to ball fakes or other subtle movements, which creates openings and angles for him to get downhill. At the rim he’s a very good finisher for a guard his size, with great footwork and outstanding touch. When called upon, he’ll knock down jumpers as well. Including one buzzer beat to end the third, which temporary stopped the momentum of a Moore run.

Kennedy is having one of the best starts to his junior campaign of any Class of 2025 guard. He looked nearly unflappable in the win over Mustang, always taking what the defensive gave him. There were multiple times, he made the defense pay for overplaying him. He opened the game with a nice score on a backdoor cut, then consistently took advantage of lanes left open when the defense tried to pressure him. Kennedy is developing into an outstanding finisher at the rim.
He flashed a few times on the defensive end, with a good understanding of when to trap or help off the ball. The Wildcat is simply a player who often knows when to be in the right place at the right time, at both ends of the court It was a nearly flawless game, but he did have a couple turnovers off passes in the second half. Continuing to refine his passing touch and accuracy along with the start of his big time scoring chops will make him an even more complete player.

Kennedy and his Wildcat teammates capped a big week that started with a quality win over Mustang by taking care of business at Duncan’s SOI tournament. On Friday night they took down Ada, 43-39. Then followed it up with a 50-39 win over Tuttle for the title. The junior guard took home MVP honors thanks to 21 points in the title game. Kennedy enjoyed a strong summer and has carried that momentum over to the high school season with Piedmont off to a 6-0 start. Always a quality shooter, he’s become stronger off the dribble and is active on the defensive end as a complete guard. A big test against defending 6A champions Edmond North is on the schedule next Friday.

The Piedmont Wildcat put together a pivotal stretch of winning basketball in a close second half contest. It started with a good finish through contact. A couple possessions later, he successfully trapped the opposing ball handler at halfcourt, leading to an easy score for himself. With momentum and confidence, the positive plays continued to happen. Kennedy hit a catch and shoot three. Then grabbed an offensive board and kicked it out to a teammate for three.
