Teixeira looked quite comfortable in his first stint with Pomfret. Though he’s playing at a way higher level than his past high school, the 6-foot-1 guard was able to handle the physicality of opposing guards and did a phenomenal job getting to his spots on the floor regardless of how much he was pressured. He handles the ball well, but he also has a nice feel and stop-and-go dribble game that makes him tough to stay in front of. Teixeira can shoot the ball from the three, the midrange, and he can finish at the cup athletically with both hands, and most importantly he understands what a good shot is. I would expect him to be a big piece of Pomfret’s attack this season.

Teixeira, a guard out of Bishop Stang High School in Massachusetts, ranks #27 among the shooting guards and checks in at #170 overall in this update. A 6’1″ guard that can really shoot the basketball, he’s got a good frame and the toughness needed to make an impact inside the paint as well. He does a good job of getting his feet squared up on the catch and elevates nicely into his jumper. On the other end of the floor, he has the ability to rebound in traffic and does a nice job of being first to the floor for loose balls. He’ll play for Team New England Basketball Club this spring and summer.

Teixeira is super intriguing. I thought he would have trouble adjusting to the speed of Team New England after playing public school basketball, but he was extremely calm and comfortable in his first action last night. He’s super strong in the lane on drives to the rim and holds his line very well, but he also makes shots from the mid range and can get hot from three quickly. He’ll have a good chance to carve out a role for Team New England this season, and that should help him make the transition to Pomfret School next season, where he’ll reclass to 2028.

Teixeira is only a junior but has already scored his thousandth point for Bishop Stang. The 6-foot-1 guard is incredibly controlled with the ball in his hands and always has his head up when handling it, so he sees cutters and three-point shooters with ease. He also does a great job using his off hand to get to the rim and take contact. Teixeira is an MIAA stud, so we’ll see if some of his teammates can step up and hit shots.
