Buis isn’t necessarily a new name to us here at Prep Hoops Indiana, but he did turn some heads over the course of the weekend at the Run N Slam. The 5’10” playmaking point guard ran the show for Indiana Jammers UA Rise 17u and helped lead them to a strong showing against good competition. Buis is a pass-first point guard that displays the athleticism and quickness to get to the paint consistently off of the dribble and make the correct reads while moving at high speeds.

did an excellent job all weekend balancing his scoring looks with facilitating for his teammates. Crafty with the ball in his hands. Has the ability to get to his spot off the dribble in one on one situations while also being really good playing the pick and roll game. Showed a nice touch on his floater and midrange game while also knocking down shots from the perimeter.

We had the opportunity to see Northview play twice this week. First, we saw them at the Hall of Fame Classic on Tuesday in a 62-51 loss to Mt. Vernon (Fortville). Then, we saw the Knights defeat Terre Haute South 64-47 on Friday. Buis finished with 15 points and 4 assists in the game against the Marauders. He then scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds against Silver Creek in the nightcap. The junior guard had 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on Friday in the game we watched against Terre Haute South.

Skilled, heady guard that controls the game on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he’s the head of the snake that defends at a high level with active hands. Offensively he’s comfortable on or off the ball. Crafty scorer that does it in a variety of different ways. Efficient three-point shooter that opens the floor for his ability to get into the lane and and create for others or finish at the basket where he can with either hand. Talented passer that pushes the pace and able to make any type of pass on the floor.

Buis has really burst onto the scene this season helping lead the Knights to a 24-3 record that just finished at the hands of Crispus Attucks in the Regional. We had the opportunity to see that 5’11” guard play in person recently at Bloomington South as well. His pop of quick-twitch playmaking and athleticism really stood out and help separate him from other smaller guards in the class. He finished the season averaging 9.2 points and 3.1 assists per game.

This guard has some quick-twitch burst and a pop of athleticism that you don’t necessarily expect. Buis has had an excellent sophomore season for Northview and is a big reason why the Knights are 22-2 even after Thursday’s loss to Bloomington South. In that contest the 5’11” playmaker finished with 11 points and 3 assists. Look for him to have a strong spring and summer coming up.
