Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
A top prospect who continues to generate buzz out of Cleveland High; had himself a productive sophomore year, producing 21.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 2.2 apg along with eight double-doubles; should be a key piece in the 1 of 1 Pro16 rotation given his ability to make things happen around the rim; really coming along as a spot-up/halfcourt shooting presence

Jay led his team in scoring at 22.0 PPG and proved to be one of the more intriguing wings of the weekend. Smooth small forward with good size and versatility. Slashes to the rim with finesse, runs the floor hard, and stays active on both ends. Comfortable stepping out beyond the arc and knocking down the 3 consistently. Brings a strong blend of athleticism, skill, and upside. High ceiling prospect with clear Division I potenti

Brunson really looked the part this past weekend with 1 of 1 Elite Pro16 16u at The Phenom Grassroots TOC in Rock Hill as he had multiple big performances and highlight worthy moments vs some really high level competition. He’s a super high flyer that is showing improvement in his ability to make outside shots right at the time where college coaches will start to play much closer attention as he enters his 16u summer. His high energy game is something that will certainly attract a ton of attention and I feel like as people dig deeper into the total package Brunson possesses as a prospect, they’ll only start to like him more. The typical style we see in travel ball is catered to the high flying game that Brunson possesses and last weekend was an incredible launching pad (no pun intended) for him as he enters this pivotal summer.

Brunson is a very very unique talent here in North Carolina’s 2028 class and is looking like someone we’ll be talking about for quite sometime. In an impressive sophomore season at Cleveland High School, Brunson averaged 22.1 Points, 9.1 Rebounds, and 2.5 Assists per game. He’ll be playing this summer with Lamelo Ball’s 1 of 1 Elite on the Puma PRO16 Circuit. Brunson is one of NC’s best and most well rounded athletes regardless of class. His ability to be a momentum shifting finisher in transition is incredibly valuable along with the fact that his skillset is really progressing at a quality rate. Brunson’s defensive upside is immense, he can truly guard almost anyone on the floor and as he continues to learn high level defensive responsibilities and fills out his frame. Brunson has a style and a motor taylor made for travel ball success and I fully believe he’ll continue to show the necessary progress in his game to keep his trajectory as a national level prospect in the right direction.

Brunson continues to really impress at Cleveland High School with his ability to rebound being one of his calling cards as a young player. He’s one of the state’s best athletes regardless of position or class and the production is matching the eye test thus far. Cleveland is 12-7 on the season and Brunson is top three on the team in every major statistical category as just a sophomore. He’s averaging 20.4 Points, 8.3 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists, 1.5 Steals, and 0.8 Blocks per game. Brunson can make outside shots, soar above the rim in transition, and take defenders off the bounce in the half-court. Mississippi State already extended an offer and they look smart for jumping early with the high upside sophomore wing from Cleveland High School.

Brunson is a prospect who’s finding his way as an attacking presence for Cleveland High; he utilizes his athleticism well to finish around the rim and has even expanded his game to the perimeter as a shooter; Shaw University offered him after he put on quite the display creating turnovers and flying to the rim for Cleveland High this past month

A budding name to know out of Cleveland High; set to really turn heads on the NXT Pro Circuit with 1 of 1 Elite given his upside as a slashing wing; just scratching the surface of what he can do athletically; averaged 7.1 ppg and 6.3 rpg on the varsity stage this past season as a freshman

Brunson is an emerging presence to get to know in the Cleveland Rams frontcourt. He’s another prospect who’s shown he can operate at either forward spot, ranking 44th overall and fifth at the power forward spot. He was productive in his freshman season with 7.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest. Given his athleticism and expanding perimeter game, look for his stock to grow soon.
