When healthy, Platz is more than a handful due to his outstanding basketball instincts and ability to make shots inside and outside. He stayed in the lineup for the vast majority of the season at Brookfield East and helped the Spartans gain a share of the Greater Metro Conference title by averaging 20.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He made 48 three-point shots and connected on 78 percent of his foul shots. Equally important, Platz was a strong team leader and on-court communicator for a squad that won 22 of 28 outings.

Platz might not have been as flashy as McMullen, Kloskey, Brown and Horton, but without his solid contribution, Brookfield East would not have won the game. The smart senior wing finished with 18 points and made some key shots around the basket while also making three-of-four foul shots in the closing minute to help Brookfield East hold off a strong challenge from Wauwatosa West. A four-year varsity competitor, Platz plays with completeness on both ends of the court and is a player the Spartans need on the court in order to win close games.

When healthy, Platz can be as good as any other backcourt player in the highly competitive Greater Metro Conference. He has battled injuries the past few seasons, but he played at an extremely high level at the WBY Tournament in Kaukauna last month, drilling threes, getting to the basket and willing his team to a big win over Marshfield. Platz has good size, good length and a scorer’s mentality. His quickness and purpose off the bounce are difficult to contain, and you must also always be aware of his outside shooting skill. A healthy Platz makes Brookfield East definitely one of the teams to beat in one of the state’s top conferences next winter.

Platz was nothing short of outstanding in leading Brookfield East to a victory over Marshfield. The 6-foot-3 wing guard scored 25 of his game-high 29 points in the second half and he scored in every way possible. In transition, he soared to the basket for layups. In the half court, he buried three-point shots and he also used his quickness, aggressiveness and skill to repeatedly beat defenders off the bounce. And when he got to the foul line, he was money. Platz has battled some injuries the past couple of seasons, but when he’s healthy and playing with confidence, he is a scoring machine.
