Expert Analysis
Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Pow, a standout at Kennebunk, had a strong start to the month of February. First, he passed the 1,000th point mark for his career, later following that up with 42-point performance in a Class A South quarterfinal victory. The 42-point game also set a new school single-game scoring record at Kennebunk, breaking a mark that had stood since 1970. A Colby commit, Pow is one of the top athletes in the MPA and has turned himself into a true three level scorer. He moves well without the basketball, attacks the rim in transition, and can finish from behind the arc in catch and shoot situations. At 6’4″ with a physical frame, he has the ability to attack a defense in a variety of ways, scoring around larger defenders and over smaller ones.

Pow has been a well-regarded prospect in Maine for a while now, however, he began to turn heads throughout New England this spring and summer. A multi-sport athlete, Pow showed an improved skillset this summer but continued to turn heads with his athleticism. He’s a high riser both in the open court and in the half court, with a quick first step and the ability to elevate quickly in traffic. His jump shot has come along in recent months, but he still thrives as a slasher and has begun to finish through contact at the rim. He’s dynamic in the open floor and can finish with power at the rim. Defensively, he’s tough on the ball and does a good job of rebounding above the rim in traffic. He’s a high academic prospect that did a lot to improve his stock this summer and should be on the radar of NESCAC and NEWMAC programs this winter.

Theo Pow Theo Pow 6'4" | SF Kennebunk | 2025 State New E is a supremely athletic guard with tons of two-way ability. He can really dunk and has a high and confident bounce both in transition and the half-court. Pow can throw it down after cutting off the catch and uses his speed to pass by closeouts to get to the rim. He is hard to stop one on one. Pow is a decent shooter off the bounce in the mid-range and better on spot-ups from downtown, even if his shot is a little flat at times. Defensively, he has long arms and plays the passing lanes extremely smartly, knowing when and when not to gamble for steals. Pow is an awesome functional athlete who can translate to the college game and should be high on any program’s watch list.
