Joshua Burish | Prep Hoops Scout
The junior didn’t start for a senior-heavy Caxys squad, but Johnson delivered valuable bench minutes in a highly competitive matchup against Mt. Carmel. He made winning plays across the floor, showing the poise to knock down catch-and-shoot threes and the quickness to slip behind defenders for finishes at the rim. He read the defense well, finding open teammates within the flow of the offense, and brought defensive energy that disrupted actions and created turnovers. Another undersized guard who was present on the glass too. Johnson ultimately led the Caxys in scoring with 13 points, making a strong case for an expanded role moving forward.

16u FP Black prospect showed so much confidence with his shooting abilities vs M14-1. Especially in the early going where he scored ten of the team’s first 14 points. Hitting shots from all three levels. Best part of his game is the motor he plays with. Plays with so much energy on both ends and showed tremendous confidence attacking the rim over multiple defenders.

Johnson can flat out stroke it from beyond the arc. The guard from Lake Forest Academy had a couple of big games while we were watching Full Package Black. Not only can he get hot from beyond the arc, but Johnson looked comfortable putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot in the intermediate range as well.
