is more than just one of the bounciest players in the state he is also a top-tier scorer. Zephier-Murphy averaged 18.8 points last season on 51% shooting from the field.
Vertical
The first thing that jumps off the screen when you watch Tayvin is his insane leaping ability. Zephier-Murphy’s recently took home the VKTRY Performance Prep Hoops Dunk Contest title. He uses his athleticism to be a dangerous driver and a lob threat. At 6’4” he is also a smart cutter who can also be a lob threat.
Shooting
While having elite athleticism is nice he’s more than just a dunker and finisher.
Tayvin is also a dependable shooter from deep. One of the things that makes him such a good shooter is his shot prep. He consistently has his feet set prior to receiving the ball making him an ideal catch-and-shoot target.
Last season was a down season for Zephier Murphy as he only shot 31% from deep however, all signs point to this being a fluke as he shot 39% from three his sophomore year and shot 86% on free throws last season which is normally a good indicator of shooting ability.
Midrange
Zephier-Murphy is also effective from the midrange where he uses quick one and two dribble pull-ups to get to his sport quickly. He also get good elevation on his midrange shot which allows him to make contested jumpers.

Quickly becoming one of the top guards in the state, Zephier-Murphy has a full bag of offensive weapons. He can finish at the rim effortlessly, has a quick turnaround jumper and is deadly from beyond the arc. Zephier-Murphy is only getting stronger, longer and can jump out of the gym. He will be a focal point for the Wolverines who are primed to make some noise this season.

Murphy is a quick athletic guard who is always in attack mode. What impresses me most is his ability to finish in transition with either hand, through contact, or above the rim throwing down several dunks. his court vision is excellent and is a willing passer, so you can literally put him at either guard spot and he will be effective. Murphy definitely plays with a chip on his shoulder and plays with a ton of intensity. Defensively he causes so many problems for opposing guard with his length, lateral quickness, and athleticism getting a fair amount of steals and finishing in transition. He currently only holds one division 1 offer from the University of Omaha-Nebraska but more offers will come in as this young man climbs the 2025 rankings.

wrapped up an impressive summer with ETG by earning his first Division 1 offer to the University of Nebraska Omaha. Last season at Omaha Westview, Zephier-Murphy averaged over 14 points per game with efficient shooting percentages from the field. A lot more will be expected from him in his Junior campaign, as his game is developing at a very high rate. By the end of the year, I expect a lot more Division 1 programs to be involved with the lengthy combo guard from Omaha.

Murphy excelled with the brand new Westview Wolverines this past winter and has been riding that momentum into this summer. He has become a real solid slasher and with his vertical and athleticism he is very tough to defend at the rim. He can rise up for dunks and lobs, or beat his man off the dribble, get to two feet, and just elevate for contested layups, utilizing his touch at the rim. One underrated aspect of his game is his shot altering ability. The amount of times he can get a contest or block shots is a very underrated aspect of his game.
