Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Hoops Scout
Soren is a true big man on the court. He’s one of the few “traditional” big men within the state. He is a rim to rim player and is extremely effective doing so. He had a monster game against Battle Ground, going for 32 points and 16 rebounds. He’s a beast on the glass and down low in the paint, there’s not many who can guard him.

He is the biggest player in the state, and a walking double double. He averaged 14 and 13 a game last season. That’s 13 rebounds which you don’t see often. He has good footwork and knows how to command attention on the block to get the ball. He can seal the defense and when he gets it in good position to score, he is a bucket. He has a soft touch from around 15 feet and in. He has put the work in to be a basketball player, not just a big player.

Dalan broke the WF West single-season rebounding record in 2021-22 and it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see the big man do it again in 2022-23. He’s a pillar inside, getting deep position to work around the hoop. Dalan is not just a double-double threat, but as he showed last year, can go off for a 20-20 game more often than you’d think. WF West made it to the top 16 of last year’s state playoffs but Dalan has a chance to lead them past that mark and more this season.

Dalan is what sets this team apart from the others. His size at 6’10 is irreplicable and he has the ability to be a true difference maker depending on the flow of the game. No matter what, he’s going to do work on the boards and likely get his double-double. What is key with Dalan on this team in particular, is his ability to counter a bad team shooting night by swallowing offensive boards and getting those second-chance points in close.
