Simley is another 2026 prospect who is venturing to 2027 in hopes of sparking some Division I recruitment and his size, versatility and shot making will be the foundation that will catch interest. Playing efficiently as a decision-maker with his shot selection will be a wrinkle that both I and college coaches monitor with a keen eye this summer. Over the weekend when he saw his spot open up for jumpers in rhythm off 1-to-2 dribbles or in catch-and-shoots where he could step into the catch, the release was confident and fluid with good results. He has the tools to be a dynamite defender when dialed in and can be a major presence in the rebounding department when the motor is running high.

Good bounce back performance from the weekend prior as Simley learns his role and niche with this Thrill 17s group. What he can bring to impact the rotation immediately is positional size, length and shooting ability when keeping things simple. It seemed like whenever Simley allowed the game to come to him, good things happened. If he ran the lane wide and spaced out the floor preparing for zip passes in shot-ready position, he laced three’s with regularity. In the half court setting when his guards were slashing and kicking, Simley got to the rim in straight-line fashion and used his plus wingspan to finish the play. Simplicity is the key for Simley to shine bright not only on the UAA Circuit, but also for post-grad/college programs to envision him translating to the level that they need.

-Probably the most well-rounded performance that I’ve seen from Simley all year in a duel with Calvert Hall. Simley started things off with a smooth baseline pull-up, raced back in transition to pin a blocked shot on the backboard, then caught it in traffic and hit his opponent with a spin move and 2-handed dunk off the gather. His movement off the ball to serve as a connector or finisher in the halfcourt really opened up perimeter shooting opportunities for teammates as the help defense often crashed on him in the paint. His willingness to bang in the paint for rebounds contrasted nicely with the skill to turn in a near-perfect performance from the FT line to seal the win. The senior wing is hearing from several D1 and D2 programs, will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out.

MSJ played from behind from beginning to end last night, but Simley continued his strong stretch of games that has helped the Gaels spark a late season run into last night’s contest. The 6-foot-7 hybrid forward was extremely aggressive in the second half forcing the refs’ whistle attacking the bucket with his herky jerky attack from the top of the key or at the elbow. He went 9/12 from the line in the second half and hit a couple of jumpers in the first two frames to lead the Gaels with 14 points while pulling in seven rebounds. MSJ awaits BCL play where they’ll face Calvert Hall in first-round action.

Simley’s recent surge has been a major reason for Mount St. Joe’s strong end to the season as the Gonzaga transfer has picked up his consistency as a producer on both ends of the floor. A toolsy hybrid forward with plus length, Simley is able to slide down multiple positions defensively. He’s approaching the glass with aggression, knocking down open shots from the perimeter and doing a nice job of initiating contact on drives to earn trips to the free-throw line. This was the sort of production that Pat Clatchey and his staff hoped for when adding Simley to the fold and he’s coming through at the most pivotal time of the season. His efforts resulted in 13 points and six boards.

Simley hasn’t had the breakout season that some may have assumed he would since transferring from Gonzaga for his senior year, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been games where his length and versatility played a role in helping the Gaels prevail. The offensive production is largely shouldered by

and Aaron Early have all been consistent support in the scoring column. With Simley, there simply aren’t many prospect in the BCL or area for that matter who bring his size, frame and athleticism as a hybrid forward that can legitimately guard four positions. Mount St. Joe sits with one of the more quiet 21-5 records you’ll come across, but that isn’t to downplay how dangerous they can be with sustained momentum heading into the postseason. If Simley poses as the defender he’s capable of being, he’ll make for the definition of an x-factor for head coach Pat Clatchey.

Coming into this season the Gaels were in need of a lengthy wing such as Simley to not only present mismatch problems on the offensive side, but also act as a versatile defensive piece. Simley’s makeup and competitiveness have served him well as a defender thus far and the offensive side has flashed in spurts. He uses his size to get to spots in the mid-range and rise over defenders for jumpers. In the open floor, his athleticism is what can shine bright. Mount St. Joe has two losses on their record, both of which came in conference play to St. Frances and Archbishop Spalding respectively, and are currently riding a four-game winning streak at 11-2 overall.

This was Simley’s second game with his new team as he is still finding his niche within the offense of when to pick and choose his spots. There’s high expectations for the 6-foot-7 wing after the past two transfers from the WCAC to MSJ include Amani Hansberry (Va Tech) and Jordan Brathwaite (Yale), two prospects who firmly left their mark on the league before advancing to the collegiate stage. For Simley it’ll be about emerging as another scoring threat alongside Ranson and using his tools to be one of the most effective defenders in the MIAA and BCL. He struggled to gain total control over the ball and create looks for himself, but the gravity that Ranson or the other quick-twitch guards demand when they get into the paint should free him up for consistent looks off the catch. Simley finished this one with eight points.

Mount St. Joe has had great success over the years with transfers out of the WCAC going back to Amani Hansberry (Va Tech) and Jordan Brathwaite (Yale). Simley looks to be next in line as he’ll bring size and scoring to a Gaels’ starting lineup that was in need of such services. Mount St. Joe’s intentions are never to just compete. With their rich history, anything less than a league title is short of their goals and along with

He is methodically attacking off the bounce using contact effectively to create an angle and to create space. Adept at creating for himself and probing the floor to get teammates involved. Saxton doesn’t mind mixing it up inside and impacts it in a variety of ways on both ends of the floor. Intrigue by upside and potential as a two-way forward. Saxton is playing for the DC Premier Club Team.
