The 6-3 junior combo guard does a good job at initiating the offense as well as creating for his teammates on and off the ball. Shoptaw can score on all three levels whether it’s off the bounce or catch as he is putting up career-high numbers in his first season playing at Windermere Prep after coming over from Lowndes (Georgia) over the summer. Defensively, Shoptaw is a physical bruiser who keeps opposing guards out of the lane and is very disciplined around the rim where he can challenge shots without fouling. Shoptaw is also an above-average rebounder for his size.

2023-2024 Stats: 11.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG & 5.8 APGrnThe 6-2 junior combo guard has fit in right away with Windermere Prep after transferring from Lowndes (Georgia) last summer. Shoptaw has displayed a great feel whether it’s his leadership on the floor or his ability to score on all three levels. His ball handling and touch has gradually improved since the beginning of the season as well as his rebounding. Shoptaw continues to have a huge upside and should start to blow up on the recruiting trail when the spring and summer Live Periods conclude.

Key Addition: Samuel Shoptaw 6-2 CG (2025). Shoptaw comes into Windermere Prep from Valdosta (Georgia) where he is one of the top perimeter shooters in the class. Shoptaw also does a great job at initiating the offense as well as getting his teammates involved with his crisp passes. On the defensive end, he plays with a ton of physicality and does a great job at getting the opposition out of the lane. He also has a knack for mismatches where he is often at times guarding along the interior as he is an underrated rebounder for his size.

He is one of the most consistent perimeter shooting threats in the upcoming junior class. He also displays a high basketball IQ when it comes to his decision-making on when to pass or shoot the basketball. He’s a pure point guard with a great feel for the game and a high IQ. Shoptaw is elite in both the scoring and playmaking departments, some really impressive court vision and a jumpshot that he can hit from all over the floor.
