It would be tough to leave Rush off any superlative list from the Spurs City Shootout—whether it’s All Defense, All Offense, Top Rebounder, or any other category. He truly distinguished himself as one of the top players in the 16u division. Rush is the definition of a complete player: he can bang down low, face up in the mid-post/elbow, and knock down the three-ball with consistency. A fierce competitor, Moody is always in the mood to defend and dominate the boards. His potential is through the roof, and if he continues to develop and prove he can maintain this level of production, the sky’s the limit. Only time will tell, but Prep Hoops will be right there to witness his growth!

Rush made a strong case for being the best big man in the 16u Division with his relentless competitiveness and versatility. Standing at 6’5″, he can play multiple positions on the floor, but it’s his high motor and intensity that truly set him apart. His tenacity made him a walking double-double, as he dominated both ends of the court. With his strong build, Rush easily turned defensive rebounds into quick outlet passes or even led the break himself, showcasing his all-around game. Whether it was battling in the paint or pushing the tempo, Rush’s impact was felt every minute he was on the floor. Rush also proved true that he can shoot it consistently from 3 point land.

After action concluded on Saturday, I questioned if Rush would be able to deliver the same intensity on Sunday… Rush answered that loud and clear in his 9 AM game! Immediately after the tip off, Rush blocked a shot and then preceded to drill back to back 3’s! Giving his Just Play squad a quick 6-0 lead. Rush cleared every defensive board in his area and pushed the tempo with several out let passes to teammates. Rush finished with 16 points in the victory.

Rush is a skilled and super competitive wing/forward that had moments where he solidified himself as one the top prospects in the entire event. Rush has good length and fluid coordination that allows him to impact the game in various ways. He often converted his defensive rebounds into transition fast breaks where he made sound passes to teammates and also finished through defenders with contact for and 1 conversions. I look forward to seeing if Rush can play with this same energy throughout the weekend.
