Lynch is one of 4 freshmen who play a lot of minutes for Ashland and River does most of his damage as a shooter. To this point in the season, the shooter has only attempted 7 two point shots versus 38 threes taken. Of those 38, River is shooting 42% from range and is essentially a specialist at this point in the season. Long term, I expect Lynch to step into a bigger role next season as the Tomcats will have to replace 39 points of offense after graduation.

Ashland is a very talented group that is full of really good guards but Lynch has made himself a good role in his first season with the Tomcats. Primarily operating as a shooter right now, River is shooting an impressive 46% from three so far. Fellow freshman Alijah Owens Alijah Owens 6'1" | PG/CG Ashland Blazer | 2029 State KY is elite at getting paint touches and getting downhill and Lynch looks like he’s going to make a tremendous duo for Ashland for the next 4 seasons.

River was another elite bucket getter at our event. He showcased his ability as a knockdown shooter hitting multiple in the game that I watched. Ashland seems to always have a stable of elite guards and River is no exception to that. As he continues to improve he could turn into one of the top scorers in the 16th region.

It should come as no surprise that an Ashland guard came to a prep hoops camp and played well. Lynch is another player whose name I had not heard previously but finished the day being impressed by him. River looks like a big time shooter and can carve out a role for himself as a shooter in his freshman year then inherit a bigger spot in the rotation moving forward.
