Despite the fact his perimeter shot wasn’t clicking as much as usual, Khyungra still made a major impression on everyone in attendance as he simply could not be stopped getting to the basket. His incredibly quick first step and overall speed was practically unguardable and when he got into the lane he would either dish it to an open teammate or get the bucket himself, often through contact. The rising La Salle senior guard has yet to receive his first collegiate offer but it likely won’t be long before he gets one.

Khungra only played at the event on Saturday, but he shined brightly in both games for the Cascade Kings (Curtis). In the victory over Identity Basketball to determine the bracket’s #1 seed, he exploded for 39 points and basically took over the game at the end, scoring 10 points in the closing minutes to secure the W. The second game was a loss, but the rising La Salle senior piled on another 27 points. His quickness going to the hoop simply could not be contained and his jumpshot was on target from deep. One college coach in attendance quipped that he may have been the top offensive player in the gym and the raw point totals seem to back that opinion up.

The player that put up the most specatcular numbers at WIBCA was Khyungra. The rising senior guard averaged an eye-popping 35.3 points over four games, and literally could not be stopped whether it was using his quickness to explode to the basket or drain daggers from long range. In a 46-point explosion against Sunnyside, Khyungra didn’t even attempt a shot in the first few minutes of the game but quickly took over and completely put the team on his back, scoring from everywhere on the court (including 7 threes and a four-point play) in leading the Falcons to a 62-50 win. La Salle actually ended up finishing 4-0 for the weekend, where in addition to his points Khyungra also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.8 steals.

A fast, high-energy point guard, Khyungra excels with his quickness and tight ball-handling, consistently breaking down defenders. He combines high basketball IQ and strong court vision to create for teammates, making him a natural playmaker. He’s also a reliable outside shooter, capable of stretching defenses. In his game against GRIT on Saturday, he scored 18 points, showing his ability to balance scoring and facilitating. Despite his size, he jumps well, competes defensively, and brings constant effort on that end. His speed, skill, and feel for the game make him one of the top point guards in the state.

Khyungra is a dynamic scorer and confident shooter with deep range. In the game we watched, he poured in 34 points while surpassing the 1,000-career-point milestone, showcasing his ability to rise in big moments. Khyungra is a crafty ball handler with a high basketball IQ who can score at all three levels, attacking the rim when needed and delivering in clutch situations.

One of the most explosive scorers in all of 5A, Khyungra will have the ball even more in his hands this season as the defending champs will be counting on his production the entire game. The sophomore has emerged as one of 5A’s top scorers as he’s been practically impossible to contain off the dribble going to the basket and using his diverse layup package to finish. He’s also been able to get hot from the perimeter at times, making him unstoppable at times. His quickness has also been evident on the defensive end as his motor and quick hands constantly create turnovers.
