Recruiting Update – Riggy Khyungra (2027 La Salle)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If high school had ended already for [player_tooltip player_id='2211742' first='Riggy' last='Khyungra'], he would have had done it all - state champion, 1000-point career scorer, all-league, all-state honors. But there's still one more year to go for the quick point guard from La Salle and there's no question he wants to go out with a bang. The senior also is hoping to secure the right fit for himself at the next level, so he used this past off-season to play high level club basketball and continue honing his game with the intent of catching the eyes of college coaches.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"Playing with the [program_tooltip program_id='2850997' first='Cascade' last='Kings'] was a really good experience," Khyungra said. "I got to play against some of the top competition across the nation and then in the off-season I've been really just lifting a lot with my teammates and on Thursdays we play basketball after a lift, really just getting bigger. We go at 6 in the morning and after school we shoot at 4. I feel like my shot's been getting a lot better and recently I feel really more confident in my shot. Also my decision-making has gotten a lot better, but I think overall my leadership really has gotten better. I've been talking a lot on defense and even more on offense."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Through his play on the AAU circuit and in various elite camps in the late summer going into this fall, Khyungra has been able to showcase his skills and has thoroughly enjoyed the process. "It's been good meeting all the coaches around this area and going to all these camps is fun," Khyungra said. "Especially during the 5-on-5 and scrimmaging, it's fun and I see a lot of my friends here too, so it's a good time."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Impressing coaches with his quickness and pure scoring ability, Khyungra has been talking with a number of college programs at varying levels - and recently picked up the first of what he hopes will be multiple college offers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I'm talking to a lot of schools, but I just got offered by George Fox not that long ago," Khyungra said. "That's my only offer right now, so I just got to wait for the season to perform and hopefully more will come. But I love Coach (Maco) Hamilton - he's a good guy. I'm going to go out there to their camp at the end of this month and I'm going to visit them pretty soon. I was really happy when I got the offer."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When it comes to what the right fit will be for the high-academic student at the college level, Khyungra is keeping things totally open. "Just a team that will play fast and give me a chance to play at the next level wherever it is," Khyungra aid. "I just want to play at the next level."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another big year from Khyungra will certainly help in the cause - and it's one where the 2005 5A state champ is hoping to lead the Falcons to the promised land once again. "This season, I really want to make it back to Linfield and make a deep run in the playoffs this year again (2:08) because it was really fun last time," Khyungra said.
