In two years since coming to St. Croix Lutheran via Italy, Riccardo eclipsed 1,000 points, broke a school record with 41 points in a game, and was just named conference player of the year. On Monday night he was one of the most productive players in attendance, showing his ability to knock down threes off the catch, power his way to the rim, and finish explosively in the open floor. He does a nice job of playing off of two feet inside, which allows him to finish balanced, and really utilize his strength against smaller players. Riccardo doesn’t force his game, and instead finds ways to score within the flow of the offense, keeping the ball moving when a shot isn’t there. Smart player who possesses size, skill, strength, and basketball IQ.

The 6’6 wing from Italy put on a show on Monday night, breaking a school record with 41 points in just 26 minutes of play. Riccardo has done a nice job of adding weight to his 6’6 frame, and at the high school level it allows him to simply bully his way to the rim. St. Croix Prep didn’t have anyone who could contain him around the basket, and Riccardo did a nice job of playing off of two feet, which allowed him to go up balanced and finish at a high percentage. When he wasn’t finishing inside, Riccardo was shooting the lights out from beyond the arc, including three makes in less than a minute. Marzetti is a strong presence on the glass, and sees the floor really well, putting him among the best wing passers I’ve seen all season.

Marzetti runs the floor well for his size and can be a match-up problem for slower, bigger fowards, shoots well from the perimeter and has a good eye for passing.
