Alston has had a huge rise since the start of last summer, dominating the Puma circuit and continuing to impress this winter. Taking official visits to SMU and Wichita State over the past few weeks, it seems like Alston might be prioritizing a path where he can play with the ball in his hands right away and have a team built around him. Playing at a traditional high school and on the Puma circuit shows that Alston is comfortable creating his own path. His Dad played over a decade in the NBA and certainly should know what it takes for a player to get to the highest level of basketball.

. His offensive skills, including scoring, ball-handling, facilitating, and IQ, make him my choice for the best high school guard in the country. Defensively, his ability to read passing lanes and turn defense into offense by pushing the ball up the floor creates transition opportunities. Currently, Reese has multiple Division I offers totaling around 20+. I’m looking forward to seeing how much he improves over the summer.

His speed and dribble package worked hand in hand, allowing him to play with pace, probing when necessary and accelerating instantly for straight-line drives to the rim. Alston finished the game with 21 points and was just as advertised. He is a legit 6’3 point guard with a smooth blend of hooper and basketball player skill. He keeps the ball on a string and takes care of it, and shares the ball with his teammates willingly. His ability to score, facilitate, lead and do all the small things makes him a top prospect in the nation. His recruiting has already started and will be even more intense when the summer comes around. Amazing all around performance from the PrepHoops #1 Point Guard.

is a 6’3” guard with elite athleticism and a high basketball IQ. He explodes past defenders with his first step and finishes above the rim or through contact. On defense, his quickness and length let him guard multiple positions and cause constant problems for opponents. With tight handles and sharp passing, Alston controls the tempo and sets up teammates with ease. He rarely forces plays, always reading the game and making smart decisions on both ends.

An incredibly active floor general, Alston was the engine of his Houston Hoops’ offense at times and the heartbeat of their overall tempo. Alston constantly scanned the floor, using his vocal presence, hand signals, and eye manipulation to orchestrate spacing, direct cutters, and identify mismatches, always in full command of the possession. As a rebounding guard, Alston attacked the glass aggressively and wasted no time transitioning into offense. The moment the ball hit Reese’s hands, his head was up, eyes surveying the floor to find advancing wings or sprinting bigs, initiating fast breaks with quick-hit outlets or pushing the tempo himself.
