Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Brunton put together a career and season for the ages, heading to Regis University after surpassing 1,500 career points and averaging an incredible 31.5 this season. He’s a true scorer who can get buckets from anywhere on the floor, whether it’s from deep, mid range, or attacking the rim. His handles and ability to change direction make him nearly impossible to stay in front of. On top of that he competes at a high level defensively, making him a complete player. His scoring ability and all around game should make an immediate impact at the next level

has applied everything he’s learned throughout his high school career and transformed into an unstoppable scorer in his senior year. It’s clear that Brunton has grown exponentially, and his numbers speak volumes. Averaging an astonishing 35.4 PPG across his last five contests, Brunton is a threat from all three levels on offense. At 6’7, he can shoot over any defender and get creative scoring the ball at will. Brunton’s court awareness shines the most, as he constantly has his head on a swivel, looking for new opportunities. Brunton isn’t up next; he’s got now.

I remember getting a text message a few years ago from Coach Workie, and all he kept saying was, “You have to get eyes on Preston. He is going to be one of the state’s best scorers.” Fast forward to now, and he is a Top 5 scorer in the state. The 6’6 wing can do it all, and he passed the 1000 points scored mark earlier this season. He’s aggressive, assertive in every setting that I’ve seen, and despite the game plan for opposing teams has still found a way to put up huge scoring performances. He’s had some offensive explosions throughout the year, but the way that he manipulates defenses this season has separated him. He’s putting up 30 points a game, has had 30 points or more on six different occasions, and his season-low is 23 points. That’s production. His skill, coupled with his length and size, makes him a very interesting prospect that more college eyes should be on.

Brunton is one of the state’s best scorers as he’s a player that you can put the ball in his hands and get out of the way. He’s a patient scorer who gets to his mid-range spot and rises up over smaller defenders. He attacked in triple threat, showed a face-up game, and also had some tough finishes at the rim. He punished smaller defenders in both 3-on-3 and 5’s as he responded with big shots, took on challenges defensively and also showed that he sees the floor well with passing as well. As a bigger wing, he used screens effectively and created off the dribble. Even when his shot wasn’t falling, he found ways to contribute, and that shows a complete player and that stands out more for me. I like the top players coming out and showing that they just want to compete. Kudos to Brunton and another solid showing.

Brunton had a summer that generated buzz for good reason. He stretches the floor with his three point shooting, plays tough defense, and can score from anywhere on the court. Inside he uses his strength to establish position and finish through contact, making him a reliable scoring threat in the paint. At The Expo he deserves to show off his complete offensive and defensive skill set. He thrives while knocking down shots from deep, creating mismatches and dominating down low. His versatility, toughness, and ability to impact the game on both ends make him a player scouts will be excited to watch

Preston, one of Colorado’s top rising recruits, continues to draw attention as his game steadily evolves. An intriguing athlete, Brunton is a long, skilled wing with a strong feel for the game and advanced basketball IQ. His shooting ability stands out immediately — featuring a high, quick release that allows him to get shots off effectively against a variety of defensive looks. He excels at moving without the ball, reading half-court actions, and creating time and space to get into his shot. His ability to relocate and set his feet quickly makes him a constant perimeter threat. Around the rim, Brunton is equally impressive — displaying crafty footwork, smart use of pivots, and a soft touch on extended finishes. His combination of skill, length, and feel makes him one of the more polished and dangerous scorers in the region.
