Merlington is such an intriguing prospect. I’d even venture to say that he’s underrated. Merlington could develop a dangerous frame at the next level. That combined with his jumper from beyond the arc, which he showed off in Grand Rapids, is scary to think about. Like a combination of Freddie Hunter and Nik Stauskas.

Peyton is one of the better shooters I’ve seen in person recently. He is strong in both catch-and-shoot as well as off-the-dribble situations. The strength he possesses allows him to get separation to shoot despite attracting lots of defensive attention. Also, I can say with confidence, the college 3-point line won’t be an issue. It will be interesting to see his development continue as the main man for Battle Creek Pennfield.

Merlington is a really talented junior. His game kind of reminds me of his teammate talked about above. He’s strong enough to be a difference maker around the rim, but looks really comfortable on the perimeter as well. Merlington’s jumper splashed a few times last night. Again, I don’t like tracking points, but I’d be shocked if he didn’t have over 20.

I’ve seen plenty of Merlington, but he keeps getting better so I keep wanting to see more. He’s a bouncy forward that can really attack the rim of a short drive or as a cutter. Merlington has shown a dedication to the gym that deserves eyes on his game.

I’m thankful that I’ve had the chance to see Merlington improve his game. He has a lot of skills that he can build on. Merlington can make the mid range a big time asset. He can work off the high post and hit a jumper or use a 2 dribble power move.

Merlington caught my eye at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. He has size to combine with a nice face up game. Merlington works really well off the high post using ball fakes and a straight line drive. He has a lot of upside and this next high school and grassroots seasons could be huge.

Merlington successfully showed off his game over the weekend. He had a mature and steady game. Merlington successfully saw space and attacked it with or without the ball. He showed the ability to work off the high post with a strong 3 dribble drive and score. Merlington used a shot fake and take to draw a foul. He also drew a foul with a physical attempt near the rim.
