Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
A long, rangy big who makes his presence felt on the defensive end, using his length to contest and alter shots. He is improving offensively but is still a bit raw at this stage. Shows value as a threat in the two-man game and is effective rolling to the rim. I like how he keeps things simple and stays within his role. Also does a good job capitalizing on second-chance opportunities on the offensive glass.

Back at Cheltenham after a detour last year to Bonner-Prendergast, McClendon should be one of the more formidable frontcourt presences in the suburbs this year. Helping lead a Panther team looking to contend in the SOL and the district, he’s an old-school post who thrives playing from block to block. McClendon shows a workable set of post moves to expose smaller players inside, while also running the floor comfortably for early offense and doing well to make himself available for dumpoffs and offensive rebounds in the halfcourt. His size poses a natural deterrent defensively for opposing drivers and post threats. Young for his grade, McClendon could benefit from a post-grad year but could also be worth a real look for scholarship-level programs with room for a developmental piece in the post.
