Having that senior leadership, along with all of the playmaking and skills that Scales possess is a big reason why we think PC West is a serious team to look out for when March rolls around. Always a player that was a threat from beyond the arc, the most impressive growth in his game of the past year is his ability to get downhill and finish. Especially for a little guard. Even with his lighter frame, he’s outstanding at absorbing contact at the rim to draw fouls, and often make acrobatic finishes. There are flashes of a Ty Frierson (one of Oklahoma’s most productive seniors from last year) in Scales’ game.

The senior guard has been a critical part of the Patriots team over the last few seasons but PC West might be without him for the first part of the season. Scales has not been playing with the Patriots during scrimmages and it is believed that he will not play in the first month of the season with a potential to come back in January. With Scales, the Patriots are right there in the mix among 6A contenders. Without Scales, we believe the Patriots are still a contender, but they’ll have to overcome losing that production.
