Owinje does a nice job impacting the game in a variety of ways. His length shows up on the defensive end, where he rebounds, contests shots, and defends at a high level. Offensively, he is effective playing off the ball and has a good feel for finding scoring opportunities, consistently putting himself in the right spots on the floor. I like his scoring instincts, and he does a nice job keeping the ball moving rather than letting it stick, while still being able to make plays for both himself and others.

One of the better seniors still on the market in MD/DC, Owinje’s combination of size and shooting are at a premium in today’s game. Clinton Grace runs plenty of quick-hitting actions for the sharpshooter to get clean catch-and-shoot opportunities from deep. Owinje capitalized on two three’s in last night’s game en route to 12 points, but the gravity he demands on the catch results aggressive closeouts and he showed anticipation as a ball mover in making the extra pass to open teammates spotting up in the corner. He was also in the mix defensively as he made timely weakside collapse rotations on the rim and blocked two shots that would help spark transition opportunities.

Owinje earned Player of the Game honors against The Star Alliance by with a line of 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals on 9-16 FGA and 5-8 3PA. Owinje effortlessly knocked down threes with confidence and converted a nifty scoop finish at the front of the rim after curling. Factoring in his long arms and mature frame, there are at worst 3-and-D tools for collegiate coaches to tap into with the unsigned senior.

Clinton Grace entered this season viewed as a potential juggernaut in the DMV and while they earned a few quality wins early, the Eagles have stumbled the last few weeks against some of the elite programs not only in the area, but nationally. Owinje is a key ingredient to their success as a three-point shooter that opens up driving lanes for the dynamic guards to take advantage of. In more than a few occasions, he’s had to lead the scoring effort and as he proved during his junior season, can be a guy that can quickly change the momentum of a game in his team’s favor. His tools that translate to the next level start with the size and the shooting. When Owinje is sticking to his strengths, it shines bright for both he and his team. If he can continue to embrace the versatile tools he poses defensively, develops a game off the bounce and becomes more of a consistent communicator, there’s a chance that a DI programs may pull the trigger on an offer. Owinje’s big-time outings had resulted in a 10-spot jump in this update.

It wasn’t a game to remember for Owinje from an efficiency standpoint as many of his jumpers seemed to fall short, but he had a bevy of opportunities off the catch thanks to Lonnie Lyons and

forcing the defense to collapse on drives. As Clinton Grace made their late game run, the 6-foot-5 wing started to stick his shots with more confidence that helped trim the lead down to double-digits. Owinje was the high scorer for the Eagles with 18 points.

For the last two years Zoje continues to make a lasting impression with his play during the spring, summer and this fall. Owinje simply possesses the full package. At 6-foot-6, he’s smart, skilled, and athletic with an all-around game. Owinje is such a malleable, low-maintenance player that he’s capable of producing in all types of roles. He can dictate the offense as a primary creator, operate as a connecting piece, or operate without the ball. He’s a knockdown shooter who consistently hits jumpers (3-8 3-pt line) off the catch and bounce in the game against Sidwell Friends while being unselfish and making quality decisions. When opponent’s closeout hard, Owinje is largely unbothered. He’s comfortable attacking closeouts or generating openings for others. Owinje a useful self-creator who doesn’t look to dominate the ball or do too much. Although he’s an efficient scoring option and willing playmaker, he also impacts the game as a defender and rebounder. Owinje can comfortably defend two or three positions, secure rebounds well for his size, and push the break effectively in transition. Owinje is a college level prospect. Finish the game against the Sidwell Friends with 20 points on 7-19 shooting, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Also played all 32 minutes of the game.

Similar to Meeks, Owinje is another shooting guard who doesn’t allow his last miss to impact his confidence. That was clear in the first half of their game against Sidwell when Owinje struggled mightily to get any of his looks from outside or in the paint to fall in his favor. Nevertheless like he has in plenty of other games under head coach Devin Paige, the 6-foot-6 guard came through in the final two frames with huge shots to help build the insurmountable lead. He also did his due diligence on the glass pulling down five rebounds and while the percentages weren’t great, Owinje led the Eagles with 20 points, several of which came in the second half when Clinton Grace was able to establish complete control.

-The consistency in Owinje’s game is translating to being recognized by scouts on a regular basis this year and this weekend was no different. Owinje continues to serve as a shooter that can space the floor but has also made improvements to his physique to more effectively attack closeouts. He serves as a great connector for his team from the wings but is also making plays for teammates off the bounce and helping out his bigs on the glass. He played well in limited playing time (coach cleared the bench once they went up 25) scoring on a nice cut for the reverse lay, hit two C+S 3s, and ripped through from the wing before getting downhill and hitting the floater through the center of the net. His attention to detail defensively as a weakside shot-blocker that has also become adept at stripping opponents of the ball on layup attempts only adds to his value as a prospect. Expect LM coaches that have been sniffing around to pull the trigger this winter as they see the value that he brings to his team.

when this Clinton Grace team is rolling. The chemistry between the two are clear and surfaced regularly in their showings yesterday as Lyons broke his defender down off the dribble before zipping passes to the 6-foot-6 shooter in the weak side corner or on the wing after timely lifts. His hot start from outside the catalyst in getting off to a dominant 21-0 lead to start their day against The Skill Factory. They’d finish 2-0 on the day after picking up a nice win against Spire Academy (OH).

Another name that should be starred on Clinton Grace’s roster is Owinje. A wing hovering around 6-foot-6, Owinje brings tremendous floor-spacing with his long-range shooting ability that extends a few feet beyond the high school line. He’s the type of microwave shooter that can quickly bury 3-to-4 in a row and completely change the course of a game in a few possessions. He’s grown as a creator when attacking closeouts and can be used in a variety of ways defensively due to his size and length.
