Malz, who was a coveted Division III recruit in New England, announced his college plans with his commitment to Wheaton College (MA). A versatile forward that has inside-out tools, Malz is already a high level rebounder and defender. He moves well enough laterally to guard in space on the perimeter and is a terrific post defender where he does a great job of walling up and forcing opponents to finish over length. Offensively, he’s already a terrific rim-runner and does a good job of scoring off of dump downs from driving guards. He’s a willing ball mover that shows signs of future floor spacing ability and could develop into a prototypical stretch-forward at the next level. With his combination of length, size, and skill, he should be able to make an immediate impact at Wheaton and over time, has a chance to be one of the better forwards in the NEWMAC.
