Expert Analysis

Shelton was the most aggressive player I saw attacking the basket at the Expo. He consistently looked to get downhill and was a problem when he had a full runway to attack. His size and good footwork also give him defensive versatility, allowing him to guard multiple positions. Shelton’s aggressive approach helped him get to the free throw line at a high volume and showed how much pressure he can put on a defense when attacking.

Shelton has great size and strength, making him capable of guarding any position on the court. He positions himself well on the floor and was a force on the boards throughout the day. Offensively, he is very effective in the post but also has a nice stroke from the outside, where he gets tremendous rotation on his shot. He has an excellent mid-range game, but can also knock down the three ball at a high rate, allowing him to space the floor.

A new addition to Florida’s talented 2028 class from Louisiana, Shelton is a versatile, athletic and skilled wing with positional size. He can score at all three levels and has an impressive feel for the game, showing the ability to impact the offense both as a scorer and facilitator. Shelton is a capable playmaker with good court vision and is an above average athlete who averaged 13.5 points per game during 5-on-5 action on Sunday. He made a strong first impression and has earned a spot in our next rankings update later this fall.

locked in a solid sophomore season at Calvary, logging considerable Varsity minutes and stepping in to do whatever was required. If they needed a post presence, he stepped in to defend bigger players and rebound. When they needed a slasher, he made moves to get to the rim. When they needed a three-pointer, Nick could deliver. Calvary is losing three “bigs,” so Nick will have the opportunity to showcase his early morning work and developing skills. Our scouts remain high on Nick as he continues to develop and deliver.

Shelton is complimentary player for Calvary but in the 2028 class he has shown his skill and potential at showcases. His game is improving at a steady level, but adding his size and IQ he is making a name for himself around the state as one to watch. He is kind of a hybrid player because he can shoot, rebounds well and can get to the rim without dominating the ball. He is bigger, stronger and faster than last year and he uses all of this to score efficiently. Nick will be another big piece of the Calvary puzzle as they will be a top team in the state this year. The sky is the limit for

is probably not a name that is known around the state for his production. He is a role player for Calvary, but that is the cost of steady development. Learning from older players and putting in timeless hours to develop. In a gym of his peers, he was clearly one of the most skilled players. I am not even sure what he does best right now. The impressive part of his game is in the simple efficiency of his production. He does not make moves; he makes reads and then reacts. Shelton has a banker’s demeanor. He lets his game do the talking, and at the showcase he was CASH all day. In one game, he just kept scoring, and I stopped counting. Consensus First Team Player.

Nick has a bright future in the game thanks to his smooth and composed style of play. He can knock down shots from beyond the arc with confidence, stretching the floor for his team. His mid-range jumper is equally reliable, giving him multiple ways to score. Around the rim, he finishes with touch and control, making him difficult to stop in the paint. Defensively, Nick can guard both inside and on the perimeter, showing versatility on that end of the floor. With his skill set and poise, he has all the tools to become a standout player.

is a name to know around the state because of his constantly developing game. Playing for one of the top teams in the state can easily find underclassmen out of the Varsity rotation, but for two years Shelton has etched in minutes at Calvary. Shelton works hard on both ends of the court and gives the team whatever is required in game-time situations. He is a trusted rebounder, shot blocker and defender and is also developing a lethal three point shot. Shelton has all the tools to be a top player in the state, and with Calvary poised to make another deep run, look for Shelton to earn more meaningful minutes this upcoming season.
