Carrillo was a bright spot for Greeley Central, averaging double figures as a freshman and showing flashes as a natural scorer with quickness and instincts. He’s crafty and can create for himself, but continued growth as a lead guard and perimeter shooter will elevate his game. We wish we’d seen him this summer as we would be able to gauge where he is compared to the other top players in the class, but he’s a definite name to watch this upcoming season.

Carrillo was a bright spot for Greeley Central, averaging 10.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game in his freshman season. A natural scorer with quickness and instincts, he gave opposing defenses problems in spurts. But for him to take the next step, Carrillo will need to grow into a true lead guard. That means becoming a more creative facilitator and setting the table for others rather than operating solely in scoring mode. At his size, that shift will be crucial. He’ll also need to develop a consistent outside shot to stretch defenses and force them to guard him beyond the arc. The tools are there, and with added polish, he could be one of the more impactful guards in his conference this year. Big summer for him is upcoming.

Carrillo searched for openings in the lane, one of the more willing guards when it came to drawing contact. Although undersized, he works to get into his opponent, working to get them out of position from shot fakes or while slowing down the pace on a dime. Once attacking downhill, the guard has numerous counters, although created plenty of looks from spin moves. Creative with his opportunities, Carrillo gets to his right hand plenty of times, comfortable handling opponents on his hip.

Carrillo continues to display skill handling the ball, effectively creating driving lanes one on one. Although undersized, the guard was about as efficient as anyone with the right hand around the rim, adept with high hand finishes. He remained a capable three point shooter off the catch or while stepping into attempts off of ball screens, especially when opponents went under. Defensively, he brings a high motor on the glass, kickstarting plenty of fast breaks and subsequent outlet passes.
