About Nathaniel

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I pride myself on being a high IQ lockdown defender, stopping my man, and creating opportunities for my team. I may not be the flashiest, but I do enjoy doing the little things to help my team win, taking a charge, picking up 94 feet, making the extra pass, diving for loose balls, boxing out for rebounds, deflecting a pass, rotating on defense, or knocking down shots.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm all about putting in the work. I’ve had to make many sacrifices to reach this point, like leaving my family and country to chase my dream of playing ball. It’s been tough, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m here to grow, not just as a player, but as a person too. I am coachable, focused and passionate about the game. Every day I strive to improve in some way both on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am very proud to have earned a scholarship to attend Kent School in CT, from Toronto, Canada.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my experience as a lifeguard, I’ve developed my leadership skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. As a big brother to my foster siblings, I’ve learned responsibility and how to lead by example, and have compassion for others less fortunate than myself. Attending church regularly has strengthened my sense of community and taught me the importance of service and support.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Moving from Canada, in high school to pursue basketball in the U.S. has been a big challenge. Adjusting to a new culture, balancing rigorous academics, and being away from family was tough. Also, as a big brother to foster siblings, I've had to step up in ways others don't. But these challenges have made me more resilient, focused, and determined to succeed both on and off the court.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can grow academically and athletically, with a strong basketball program that values hard work and discipline. Ideally, it would be in the Northeastern or Midwest region, in an urban area, and culturally diverse. Above all, I want to go to a tight-knit community where I’m wanted, supported and will be given an opportunity to succeed.
