Myron McKoy
About Myron
Expert Analysis
Victor Taylor | Prep Hoops Scout
McKoy is an undersized guard, but also a dynamic threat to both put the ball in the basket or set up his teammates night in and out. He’s had some huge games this year, including 41 points in his conference championship game, but also has 164 total assists on the season, or over 6 assists per game. He’s able to attack the basket and shoot the deep ball well, causing defenses to gravitate towards him. This is when he uses his playmaking abilities, looking for open teammates.

Mckoy is a smaller guard, but it’s not impacted his ability to be a floor general and lead his team. His 38 assists in 7 games lead his conference, and a 2.24 AST/TO ratio have made him a key part of Trask’s above .500 start. He’s severely underrated for what he can do, coming out of Eastern NC, but he’s got collegiate level playmaking and offensive abilities. JuCo and NAIA programs would be wise to reach out.

Myron Mckoy is a name sometimes lost in the shuffle of eastern NC kids, but he popped out to me quickly despite his small stature. He’s going to be a lead guard for any team, but he’s got all the qualities a team needs. He’s a good outside shooter, quick and crafty off the bounce, and finds teammates consistently when he can’t find an open lane to the rim. Defensively he’s going to be a guy you hide, but he plays hard and will work to use his size to outfox opponents and get pickpockets. He’s also incredibly high academic, so should be a great target for local D3s looking for a point guard.

Brings plenty of the traits that you like to see from a Point Guard. He has a quick first step that he uses to blow by defenders and causes the defense to collapse. Once he’s in the paint he makes the right reads which leads to easy offense for his team.

Mckoy is very active defensively and creates a ton of havoc for the opposing team. He rebounds well for his position. He is a player that gets in to the lane and can finish using either hand or distribute to teammates.
