He set the tone from the opening tip with infectious intensity, applying pressure on both ends. Standing 6’6″ with exceptional length, he creates constant issues for smaller guards, using his reach and physical tools to disrupt actions defensively. Offensively, he brings a versatile combo guard profile, balancing playmaking with scoring while keeping the team organized. He punctuated the first half with an explosive finish at the rim. His shooting stroke is clean and repeatable, and his size allows him to elevate over contests without being affected by closeouts.

Another standout from the 2028 class on Monday was Hayes, who scored 18 points for the War Eagles in a win over ELCA. The sophomore delivered a couple of high-flying finishes, but it was his perimeter shooting and decision-making that stood out most. Hayes continues to grow more comfortable and confident from beyond the arc, while also making positive plays on the defensive end. With his trajectory and skill set, the ceiling is very high for this young prospect.

I almost listed Hayes as a standout on Saturday because he had maybe the best 4 possession stretch I saw all weekend with a wing 3, putback layup, blocked shot and assist. On Sunday, Hayes was consistently making an impact and flying around the court. I was impressed with his shiftiness on the ball and his high release point allowed him to take and make contested shots. Woodward Academy players had an excellent weekend and the greater Atlanta area had more standouts than any other part of the country this weekend.

He has a knack for finding the bucket. He moves well which allows him to cover ground on the defensive end and uses his long wiry arms to frequently acquire steals. Hayes come up with rebounds on defense. He showed that he can score from behind the arc and is molding into a prototypical 3-D man.
