Mikel Brown Jr.
About Mikel
Expert Analysis
Anthony Fortuna | Prep Hoops Scout
Mikel Brown Jr. plays with a lot of poise and looks ready for the next level. The Florida senior can bury threes with guys in his face, and knows hot to get to his spots in an efficient manner. I was also impressed by his athleticism and ability to finish tough lay-ups.

Guard Christopher “Mikel” Brown Jr. has the confidence in his shot that he needs to be guarded the minute he sets foot in the gym. Brown can pull it from anywhere. His form is a bit of a push shot from the front of his body rather than an up and down motion with follow through, but with some quick fixes, his long-distance percentages can greatly improve this year. Brown has added muscle to his frame as well and can take it to the basket effectively and finish on either side. The most impressive growth in Brown’s game is his passing ability and IQ though. The way he draws defenders when driving the lane frees up lob opportunities or kick outs to teammates floating around the arc. Getting those paint touches leads to more freedom of mobility around Brown. Having a lead guard who is looking for his teammates and getting them touches keeps everyone happy and usually leads to Ws.
