Perkins is another player on Team 4 who broke out to me last weekend. Although he typically plays on ball for May River and Team Pressure, he adjusted well to playing off it alongside some elite guards on this team. Michael was an efficient perimeter threat with a high stroke and an ability to make plays when defenders ran him off the line. As he becomes older, stronger, and faster, there’s definitely a world where Michael is one of the better guards in the Lowcountry.

Michael Perkins Michael Perkins 5'9" | PG/SG May River | 2030 SC rounds out my list of breakout names from the Carolinas Freshman Showcase. Perkins’ shooting was one of the most eye-catching parts of 5-on-5 play, as his ability to consistently knock down catch-and-shoot looks provided tons of space for some other elite guards to work. He did more than just stand in the corner and shoot, though – he moved without the ball, hustled for boards on both sides of the ball, and simply played the right way. May River is in a transition year right now, but they have some nice young pieces, including Michael, who are at the core of a bright future.
