Expert Analysis
Charles Yates | Prep Hoops Scout
Michael is a physical forward that can play the four and five slots under the basket for CenLa Hoops. LaCour has no problem sacrificing his body to get second chance opportunities for his team as they battle to gain momentum, especially taking pride on the defensive side of the court. He has surprising speed for his size and fills lanes in transition as he showcases good jumping ability at the basket and displays a strong frame when battling other post players for position.

LaCour is an interesting prospect in the class of 2028 because he already has the look of an impact basketball player. He is long with lean muscle development and the height perfect for the modern game. He has speed and athleticism. He is also active on both sides of the ball. He constantly displays his quick jumping ability and uses it to deter guards from coming in the lane looking for easy layups. Look for LaCour to make some noise this summer and carry that into the upcoming summer high school basketball season.

Read EvaluationDevontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
At 6’4”, Lacour excelled in dunker spot actions, using sharp timing to duck in at the right moment. His catch radius and soft hands made him reliable around the rim, and once he secured the ball, he exploded off the floor for powerful two-handed finishes. His timing and feel for spacing off drives allowed him to capitalize without needing many touches, the kind of vertical spacing threat that punishes collapsing help defenders.
