Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
Lead guard with a strong frame that allowed him to absorb contact and finish through bigger defenders. Lynch played with a low center of gravity that made him difficult to knock off his driving lines. He had the ball on a string using sharp crossovers, spins, and hesitation dribbles to separate and get into the paint. Once downhill, Lynch had the balance and toughness to convert tough layups despite traffic or rim protectors.

Lynch is a crafty lead guard whose offensive creativity keeps defenses under constant stress. He changes speeds effectively, getting downhill to draw help before spraying the ball to shooters or slipping in tough finishes. His handle allows him to navigate pressure, and he’s unafraid to rise into threes off the bounce. Defenders can’t relax, as he probes until a scoring or playmaking angle presents itself.

Messiah is an incredibly speedy, smart point guard that can put his entire team on his shoulder if he’s called to do so. He’s constantly making impact plays on both ends of the floor and building his squad’s momentum more and more with each one. He has great vision both offensively and defensively, picking apart defenses with his ballhandling and footwork and picking off opposing passing lanes with a crazy vertical and a nice ability to anticipate where the ball is headed next. He’s fearless when he drives the lane, never shying from contact and often finishing through it or opening up a clear opportunity for a teammate to score with ease. He has a nice pull-up jumper and his range extends beyond the arc. There doesn’t seem to be much that Messiah can’t do to push his team toward victory. A winning player on both ends of the floor.

Messiah is an impressive, tenacious guard that doesn’t carry the word quit in his vocabulary. He’s been one of my favorite players I’ve seen in the past year simply due to how much he hustles on the floor. He seems to be involved in every play for his squad on both ends of the floor and his game is dangerous and versatile – wraparound passes, finishes at the rim, protecting his basket, creating havoc on defense, step-back jumpers, ballhandling that’ll make you dizzy – Lynch does it all and he does it well. He’s skilled at leading the break and taking command for his team, making positive things happen with regularity through pinpoint passing and a fantastic ability to finish through contact at the hoop. He’s smart with his decision-making, rarely turning the ball over or making mistakes and always learning and improving. I’m excited to see him progress through his high school career and I’m expecting major things for him ahead.

The first time I saw Messiah play, I was blown away by his speed, toughness, and decision-making. He doesn’t play like a freshman and seems to make a positive impact on every possession on both ends. He can shoot it from mid-range and beyond the arc with reliable accuracy, which opens up holes for his teammates that he happily takes advantage of. His passing ability is next level and I’m almost in disbelief that it’s this good at this young of an age. Cross-court dishes, between two defenders, slicing and dicing the thinnest of lanes – it’s just a pleasure to watch and it makes a huge difference for his squad. Lynch is the type of point guard that can wow the crowd individually while simultaneously lifting up his teammates and elevating their play along with his own. A true difference-maker that has star potential and is only going to get better and better from here.

Messiah may have been the best player I saw at the showcase. He’s a lightning-fast guard with a burst that couldn’t be matched by anyone on the court. The first time I saw him accelerate, I wasn’t sure I believed my eyes. He has an extra gear that he kicks into on the drive or fast break that makes it nearly impossible to keep pace with him. On top of his speed, he’s an incredibly well-rounded player – fantastic passing ability and court vision, excellent defender that gives his opponents no space to work with and jumps the opposing passing lane for easy steals, always involved on every play, and he’s fearless – no hesitation and no hanging his head. One of my favorite things I saw from him – every time his coach shouted an adjustment from the sideline, he responded immediately with action and got it done. I expect we will be hearing Lynch’s name a ton during his high school career, and with the way he hustles, it’ll be well deserved.

proved to be incredibly quick and fast, using his speed as his greatest weapon on the court. Every time Lynch touched the ball, it seemed like he was launched out of a cannon, blowing past defenders with ease. His quickness consistently went unmatched, allowing him to get to his spots before anyone could react. Whether in transition or in half-court sets, Lynch utilized his quickness to exploit any gap in the defense, creating scoring opportunities and causing havoc for opponents. His phenomenal burst, combined with super quick feet, made him a nightmare to defend. With a lightning-quick first step, he was able to get into the teeth of the defense on a play-to-play basis, attacking the paint and forcing defensive collapses. Lynch’s ability to penetrate at will put tons of pressure on the rim, often drawing multiple defenders, which opened up easy kick-out opportunities for corner three-pointers. His relentless speed and burst were the driving forces behind his offensive impact, constantly keeping defenses on their heels.

made a significant impact at the Texas Freshman Showcase with his dynamic playmaking abilities and aggressive slashing style. Despite his 5’7″ frame, Lynch consistently attacked the basket with confidence, using his quick first step to blow by defenders and finish at the rim. His ability to navigate through traffic and draw fouls was impressive, making him a constant threat in the lane. As a playmaker, Lynch displayed solid court vision, finding open teammates with precision passes both in transition and in half-court settings. His energy and relentless drive on the court make him a player who can change the tempo of a game and keep defenses on their heels.
