About Maxwell
Expert Analysis
Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Listed at 6’6, Maxwell looks and plays a bit bigger than his size. With a long and lanky frame combined with impressive footwork, Maxwell was going to work out of the block to help his team reach the 16u championship game. He has a quick spin move, has the touch to finish with either hand, and is an explosive finisher in the open floor. If he caught on the block in isolation, two points were likely going on the board. Plays a bit more physical than his frame might suggest.

Vise is an amazing team players. When he could have been selfish and shot his own shot he would often pass off to the teammate who has the better look, to make sure the team scores. Despite that team-first mentality, he also knows when it is his time to score. He had 13 points in this game, 6 of them coming off the three ball. One bucket coming from a slightly contested dunk on

Defensively, Vise is one of the only Marauders who could compete with Singleton’s size in the paint. He had a couple of big rebounds. But on defense, where Vise shines, it’s with his off-ball movement and cutting off lanes before they open. As a young player, he already has a great feel for the game.

Max is an athletic big man who made an impact on both ends of the court. He was always in the action, and always finding ways to contribute. When Ertel was off the floor, Vise became the team’s primary scorer, consistently creating opportunities for himself in the paint.
Early in the game, he missed a couple of shots, but he turned up in the second half. Showing a never-give-up attitude. A real force to be reckoned with inside, he was relentless in his pursuit of rebounds and put-backs. Even when he struggled, he never took a play-off. On a couple of occasions, he grabbed his own rebound and put the ball back up for second-chance points.

A true 6’6, Vise used his size and length on both ends of the floor. Offensive players struggle to get clean looks at the rim and second chances due to Max’s presence in the paint. For a big guy, he runs the floor fairly well. In transition, he did get himself easy looks, including a dunk.

Strong, Versatile 6’6” F for MW Stars. Converted an and-one earlier in the game. Worked well off the pick and roll to free himself and his teammates up. Even picking up several assists. Created a pair of second-chance buckets in the 2nd half. Challenged IL Jaguars on the low block. Stronger than most PF’s i’ve seen at his age.
