Maverick turned in a nice weekend in Sioux Falls, holding down the paint to help his team go 3-1. He didn’t do a ton of scoring, doing a lot of the little things inside that contribute to winning. He did his part rebounding and defending inside, using his 6’8” frame to make a difference. Maros showed flashes of scoring, working with his back to the basket and rolling to the rim.

It was a bit of a breakout game for Maverick on Friday night, showing what he could do in the paint for Powerhouse MN . He put together a big first half, scoring with his back to the basket or out of pick & roll situations. He did a nice job of keeping the ball high and tight so help defenders couldn’t come in and poke it free, and was going straight at his man on the block for some physical post scores. Yes he showed flashes of footwork to create angles, but a lot of it was Maverick playing with an edge that his defender couldn’t match, and just using his strength and touch to finish off the glass.

Maverick was working hard in the paint for Northstar Titans . They started off the game playing 4v5 as a few players couldn’t make it in time, and Maverick did a great job of getting his offense second chances with his presence on the glass. Even if he couldn’t secure a rebound, he was utilizing his 6’7 frame to tip the ball out to the perimeter where his guards had a chance to secure possession. The bulk of his production came on the glass, but in a few paint touches he showed some emerging footwork combined with soft touch to finish off the glass.
