Expert Analysis
Ira Becks | Prep Hoops Scout
Matt led his team in scoring with 18.0 PPG. A quick, athletic lead guard with a great feel for the game and strong decision-making ability. Did a great job controlling the pace and creating opportunities for both himself and his teammates. Excellent passer who sees the floor well and consistently made the right reads. Knocked down the open three with confidence and showed the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. Put together a very impressive showing throughout the weekend.

Kuppinen proved to be an incredibly valuable member of his high school team at Millbrook this past season with his ability to be a stabilizer on top of his deep range as a jump shooter. He’ll be playing this spring/summer with DB Elite 16u who will be competing on the NxtPro Circuit. He’s coming off his sophomore season at Millbrook where he averaged 12.4 Points, 2.3 Rebounds, 1.7 Assists, and 1.6 Steals per game on 43/40/76 from the line. Kuppinen’s deep off the dribble range, feel for the game, and ability to run a team should shine bright for DB Elite. His ability to make shots at a high rate will certainly grab the attention of scouts and coaches alike, making Kuppinen a name people will be talking about a lot. He’s comfortable in big games so if/when DB Elite can get a big time matchup this year, he’ll be ready to deliver with his outside touch leading the charge.

was able to show that he is more than capable of producing against some of the State’s most talented teams. Kuppinen finished with 18 Points, 3 Steals, and 2 Rebounds vs TBS. He was able to connect on 3-8 from beyond the arc as well, proving to be a reliable shooter on high volume from distance. Kuppinen has a slick handle and great footwork on the ball to create space despite not being the quickest guy. He’s a smart defender with great hands and instincts on that end of the floor. He’s a smart passer as well and does a really nice job finding his teammates for dump-offs or drive & kicks. As he continues to get more experience at this level, expect these kinds of performances to become a lot more common for

Kuppinen has done a great job early on this season blending his shotmaking with his responsibilities running the team. He had a big performance in a win vs Sanderson where he finished with 26 points and went 10-10 from the free throw line. He looks to be gelling in with the lineup well, he’s establishing great chemistry with big man Josh Conti Josh Conti 6'8" | PF/C Millbrook | 2027 State NC and it looks to have Millbrook primed for another deep run. Expect Kuppinen to rack up big performances and continue to establish himself as one of the best guards in the 919 area.
