Marquis Goldsmith
About Marquis
Expert Analysis
Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
If there was a board man of the night award, Marquise would take the cake. Not a huge big for his size but really fills the 4-or 5-man role appropriately with his hardnosed unselfishness demeanor. A true garbage man in the paint and grinder on the glass. Possesses good hands and feet as well. Finished a reverse layup in transition, caught it on the block and bullied his way through a couple defenders to convert, and had a couple put backs off O boards. Knows how to play efficiently off his two quick guards. The team glue guy that humbly executes his job.

Competes well in the paint for a smaller power forward but plays with a bigger presence. Seems to have good anticipation of the ball whether it’s on defense for a deflection or it’s coming off the rim. Saw him have a couple O boards with putbacks as well as finishes coming from the block. Uses his hands well. Seems to be methodically poised with the ball. Can go through contact and convert or get out of pressure while being trapped to find an open guy.

He could be a very solid power forward at the D2 or D3 level if he continues to grow a little more. Exceptionally confident attacking the rim inside while finishing through contact. Can convert and-ones at a high clip. Even going coast-to-coast in transition. Fights on the floor for loose balls, too. Will make you earn everything if matched up against him.

Goldsmith is a big reason why Slam City Elite 2026 went 4-0 on the weekend. He was just too powerful under the rim. Goldsmith could put his back to the basket, earn position and either score or draw a foul. His strength allowed him to play big even if he was matched up with taller players.

A BEAST on the offensive end for Slam City Elite. Converted lots of and ones while showing good footwork in the post to help free himself up. Almost 20 points in the opening half against Play Hard. Made some key defensive plays late in the game to keep his team ahead. Ultimately finishing with a 26-pt double-double. A Rockford name to watch going forward.
